Club History

In September 1982, 5 modellers from the Taber area created a formal model flying club. The name came as a result of input from children of the members, who said they should call themselves the Night Hawks because after they fly, they are up all night repairing and building.

At that time the club negotiated with the Town of Taber to use a small area of land west of the landfill for their flying activities. With the excellent cooperation of the Town of Taber, this area is still the home of the club today and for many years to come.

Current field

The flying field boosts a large 60 x 600 foot main east – west grass runway with a 350 ft north – south runway to assist with crosswinds. Large pit area with tables & starter stands help with setup and field maintenance of the aircraft.

A parking area, small clubhouse and maintenance shack complete outbuildings.
